The latest Horizon Forbidden West update has been released, introducing a list of bug fixes, performance improvements, and side quest adjustments, as well as a fix for a more unusual issue that was causing Aloy to sometimes burst in a jerky dance.
Patch 1.12 for Horizon Forbidden West ends exciting episodes, which had a chance to spawn spontaneously when looting items. According to the patch notes, the updates fix “an issue where Aloy can bounce hard for up to 10 seconds when looting an item. The celebratory loot raves are over, but they live on in the memory.”
It’s good news for anyone who hates seeing their favorite futuristic hunter thrown away for no reason, but disappointing for anyone who wanted to check out her dance moves. Luckily, Forbidden West isn’t short of some weird movement issues, including one that makes Aloy look like she’s wall-climbing or tap-dancing furiously in the forest.
The patch notes also detail a fix for “an issue in the base where players could get stuck in the bathroom” – another rather unusual position to end up in Forbidden West. As Reddit comments show, many players didn’t even know the base had a bathroom. It makes sense; those in the room could not leave.
A host of combat changes have also been implemented, including a fix for an issue that prevented players from dodging after firing, and updated side quests, fixing some bugs that prevented players from progressing or finish them.
Many UI fixes have also been made and a cinematic camera has been added at the end of Arena challenges, so you won’t have to stare at a wall during your celebrations.
Developer Guerrilla Games lists several known issues that the team is currently working to fix, including visual flickering that has been present in the game since launch, more side quest issues that halt progress for some players, and an inventory issue that throws unintentional shadows on Aloy’s outfits.
