Ellen Barkin, Johnny Depp’s ex-girlfriend, testifies he was a controlling partner – New York Daily News

Ellen Barkin, who dated Johnny Depp in the 1990s, testified Thursday that Depp tried to check on her constantly when the two were together.

“Where are you going?” Barkin quoted Depp as saying. “Who are you going with? What did you do last night?”

Barkin’s testimony was pre-recorded and broadcast Thursday in court in Fairfax, Va., by Amber Heard’s defense team after Depp sued Heard for defamation.

“I once had a scratch on my back which made him very, very angry because he insisted it was from my having sex with someone who wasn’t him,” Barkin, now 68, said in the video.

Heard, 35, testified earlier in the trial, describing numerous experiences where Depp physically and emotionally abused her.

Depp, 58, denied all reports of Heard and claimed he was the victim. He sued Heard because she wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post in 2018 saying she was a victim of domestic violence. Depp was not named in the article.

Barkin said Thursday that the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor often used drugs and/or drank alcohol while they were together, saying it affected their relationship. Heard said similar things earlier in the trial.

Barkin also said Depp threw a bottle of wine that nearly hit her while they were filming “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” together. She said Depp was fighting with friends in a hotel room when he threw the bottle.

According to Barkin, her relationship with Depp lasted between three and five months and was more sexual than romantic.

Months before the trial in Virginia, Depp sued a British tabloid that called him a “battered woman” and lost the case.
