Challenger online storage vendor I drive added another service to its portfolio with the newcomer, E2 cloud storagepositioned as a rival of AWSS3wasabi, Azure and BackBlaze B2. IDrive claims it’s the world’s fastest S3-compatible cloud storage and we reached out to the company to find out more about the finer details.
The main features of E2 are the absence of exit and entry fees, in line with what many competitors do, as well as the possibility of choosing to pay either monthly per storage unit or annually.
As an exclusive introductory price for Tech Radar Pro readers, IDrive offers a 75% discount on the first year when you pay annually.
1TB cloud storage has an RRP of $40 per year, but our readers can get it for just $10. 2TB, 5TB, 10TB, 50TB, and 100TB packages are also available with pricing commensurate with package size; the 50TB carries an RRP of $2000 with TechRadar readers able to grab it for $500.
Alternatively, IDrive offers per TB/month as low as $4 per month, which compares positively to BackBlaze B2 and Wasabi. Compared to AWS S3, this represents a savings of 80% and the service benefits from wide compatibility between third-party tools.
10 GB free
This is clearly not your standard cloud storage solution, which means you’ll need to have the expertise to manage a web console, access keys, buckets, etc.
Additionally, with only eight locations, IDrive offers less geographic coverage compared to AWS or Azure; but it’s still just as secure with “eleven 9s data durability” and “immutable storage with object locking”.
Anyone can create an account and receive the first 10GB of storage for free; you will need to provide your credit card details if you exceed your allocated quota.
E2 joins the likes of IDrive for Business, IDrive 360, IDrive BMR Appliance and IDrive calculation in the IDrive corporate stable.
