Invincible season 2 release moves a step closer in latest update

Invincible star Steven Yeun has revealed that he has started recording lines for the highly anticipated second season of the anime series.

In Invincible’s most significant season 2 development yet, Yeun – who plays Mark Grayson/Invincible in the R-rated superhero TV series – has confirmed he’s back in the cabin. recording to work on the Prime Video show.

In a 20-second video posted to Invincible’s official Twitter account, Yeun can be seen and heard saying “I can’t wait to do more…” before the footage cuts to the iconic title card of broadcast and musical accompaniment. There’s a brief but fun clip after the one involving Yeun, but we won’t spoil it for you until you watch the video.

So what are you waiting for? Check it out below:

The rest of the video doesn’t tease us about Yeun’s lines that were taped, and doesn’t provide us with any evidence of a potential Season 2 release date. However, the footage officially confirms that Yeun will be spending the next few weeks and the next few months recording his lines for the next episode of Invincible, which is exciting in itself.

As of this writing, it’s been almost 12 months since the season 1 finale of Invincible aired – the brutal and gruesome showdown between Mark and his father Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man, has landed on Prime Video April 29, 2021.

Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next two episodes of the anime series. Seasons 2 and 3 were greenlit by Amazon Studios on the same day the last episode of the first season was released, but the wait for Season 2 to arrive is still expected to be a while.

Still, it’s nice to see Yeun finally recording dialogue for Invincible season 2. In January 2022, the former Walking Dead star confirmed that he hadn’t started work on season 2 yet, so we’re glad he finally does now. Hopefully the rest of the cast won’t be too far behind if they haven’t already returned to record their own Season 2 lines.

Naturally, Amazon Studios has yet to confirm a release date for Invincible’s next outing. But, if you’re looking for more Invincible-based content while we wait, check out our thoughts on why the Season 1 finale is the blueprint Seasons 2 and 3 should follow.

It’s hard to predict. In March 2022, showrunner Simon Racioppa exclusively told TechRadar that the team was “working hard” to deliver season 2 of Invincible as soon as possible. Considering the amount of work that goes into anime productions, we don’t expect it to hit Prime Video for a while.

We’re thrilled to have Yeun back in the recording booth, and we’re sure his return means a lot of work has already been done on the pre-production side. However, there is still a good chunk of the development cycle to complete once the voices have recorded their lines.

In traditional 2D animation pipelines, voiceover work can take place during the pre-production and/or full production phases. No matter what stage of the process Yeun records his lines at, there’s bound to be a ton of work to do before the launch of Season 2. Development stages include line testing, scene cleanups, and more. /sequence, composition, adding the show’s musical score, editing, and final checks, so Invincible season 2 still has some way to go before it’s ready for release.

Our guess? Don’t expect Invincible Season 2 to premiere on Prime Video until early 2023. As long as the series’ next batch of episodes are as good (if not better) than the above, we’re more happy to wait. And we suspect you, dear reader, will be too.
