Suspect charged for killing mother of 5-year-old boy who was fatally shot earlier – New York Daily News

An Indiana woman has been charged with fatally shooting the mother of a 5-year-old boy who was fatally shot just two weeks ago.

Kimarie Wright faces felony counts of murder and manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of Kaylynn Davidson outside a restaurant on Tuesday, WNDU reported.

Area police responded that night around 9:45 p.m. at the Linden Grill in downtown South Bend after hearing multiple gunshots ring out, which also sparked a series of 911 calls. According to documents Indictments released Thursday allege Davidson entered the restaurant and punched Wright, 26, sparking a fight.

At some point during the fight, police say Wright pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Davidson. She tried to flee with several customers inside the downtown grill, but was eventually hit by gunfire, police said.

Davidson was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities found Wright inside the Linden Grill and took her into custody Tuesday night. They also recovered a weapon from the scene.

The shooting remained under investigation Friday.

Davidson was the mother of Kyler Nowlin Jackson, a 5-year-old boy who was mistakenly shot on April 30 by a 9-year-old relative, the South Bend Tribune reported. Police did not provide further information about the shooting, but called it a “tragic accident”.
